These lakes near Meeker play host to an unusual assortment of waterfowl in the late fall. Species found in the past several years include swans, Common and Pacific Loons, Black, White-winged , and Surf Scoters, Long-tailed Ducks, and of course Barrow's Goldeneyes. The White River is a great place to see lots of bald Eagles too. Lunch in Meeker will be part of the adventure. Contact Linda Vidal at birder@sopris.net.
