We have a pair of Eurasian Collared-Doves hanging out around our house. I was excited until this morning when I read that they are expected to be the next "Starling" of the US. Dang.
I have to admit I like the Mourning Doves call better. The Collared-Dove is a bit scratchy and fast. And sometimes, when the fly overhead, they make the strangest call.
Also, I was walking the Golden around the neighborhood, and decided to take my binoculars with me. At the end of 41st I spied 3 large "things" in a tree. They looked to be trash bags, but my trusty binoculars showed me that they were actually Turkey Vultures! I really got a kick out of seeing 3 T.V.'s hanging out in our neighborhood. It was a cold morning, and it looked as if they were storing up their energy for another day of migration.
What a sight :)
