Weed killer

My landlord had a company come and spray my "weeds" last week. We also had a bad hailstorm last Monday (6-15), since that all happened I have picked up 14, soon to be 16 dead little finches. My question is this, if it was the weed killer, wouldn't all my birds be effected, IE Eurasion collard doves, sparrows, Robins etc??? Maybe these smaller birds parents were killed by hail, and they are left to fend for themselves? There have been some adults that have died too.
I just hate picking up all these birds that literally dropping like flies.
