Colorado Birder

We're confused. Some of the features match the Swainson's Hawk but this guy was so small. Is it a falcon of some sort? Doesn't match a Prairie or Peregrine description.....

Wonderfully detailed shot.
I would say its a male Swainson's due to the grey head, but I also agree that
he looks kind of small.

I will order this book! It appears to have more than just one example of a bird. Very helpful. This was THE smallest hawk I've ever seen. Thank you for your help William.

I think this one maybe an intermediate morph Swainson's, after looking in my Field Guide to the Birds of North America.
