Colorado Birder

In 1890, eighty European starlings were introduced to North America by a dude whose mission was to introduce all of the birds mentioned in the works of William Shakespeare into North America. Now there are over 200 million starlings on the continent. They are considered a major pest and compete with indiginous species for nesting sites. What hast thou wrought??? They're kind of cute though.

I say the same thing! "%$#*!", when they are at my feeders. Smart buggars know to tip one of them and pour seed all over the ground. Then there are millions of them!

We have a large feedlot on Owl Canyon Road that can have over 10,000+ European Starlings in a flock. When they takeoff it is a sight to behold-it's like an enormous swarm of bees in how they fly. Gary
