Comment by Nicholas Komar on June 4, 2012 at 8:58am Bushtit. Compare with this photo of Bushtit in Colorado: http://www.pbase.com/quetzal/image/105482905. Both photos show the brown cheek ("auricular"). Interesting that the Sibley Guide does not show this field mark, and depicts a smaller bill than is evident in these photos. National Geographic does show the brown cheek. The dark eye would indicate that the gender is male. This is a fully grown bird, presumably an adult. - Nick K.
