Hello Ann!

I'm pretty new to birding really. I just got my first field guide a couple of months ago. I've always been interested in wildlife in general and in nature photography, so I eventually started wondering what all those feathered things were flying around! I like how they mark the seasons with their changes - migrations, breeding plumage, behavior etc.

How about you? How long have you been at it and what all do you see in your backyard?

I enjoyed their constant variety of calls, even when they went on all night long, the flash of wings as they flew off, the babies on the ground begging for food upon first leaving the nest.

Life and Yard Birds this weekend

It's been an amazing weekend in my yard.

The recent rains have cause spring to really spring - the serviceberry, crabapple, lilacs, cherry, apple, basket of gold alyssum and tulips are all in full bloom.

There are 3 Western Chorus Frogs singing from my little 5' diameter garden pond.

And the birds are just falling out of the sky into my yard.

Here's the list for this weekend (FOS - first of spring; LB - Life Bird; YB - Yard Bird First):

Swainson's Hawk
American Kestrel
Mourning Dove
