Hi Debbie,
I am not sure what kind of bird this is. I was hoping someone could help me identify him!
Where did you take your hummingbird pictures?
Thanks.

Oh, Lord. I would have cried if we had gotten that much snow again. We got about a foot yesterday and it was really wet. Walt went off the road. But, all is well and today we are flooding!

I am hoping to go tomorrow to Hayden. There is an area to see the sandhills dancing and the grouse courting. I haven't seen the grouse before.

I haven't seen anything new except the female Cassin's. Do they not migrate together, male and female?

I'll let you know how tomorrow goes.

Hey, Debbie.

Have you seen anything new lately? The sandhills have arrived here. I am going to try to see the grouse display tomorrow up near Hayden. Hope you're having good birding!

Yes, you are at a higher elevation. Most of these pics are taken at my friend's house. He is in the trees. My house sits in the sage so I should be able to get some different birds soon.

I have been birding for a few years, but seem to be really jazzed about it this year. I think it was the trip to the Pantanal and Amazon in February. My brother says I caught the bird flu!

Looking forward to seeing more of your sightings!

Hi, Debbie.

Thanks for the comment on the Green Tailed Towhee. Can you help me with the hawk I posted? I find hawks the most difficult to identify, but have made it my goal for this summer.

Thanks again!

Hello Debbie,

I took the red tail hawk photo at St. Vrain SP. Last Spring there was a nest with two chicks just to the South of the rest rooms at the far end of Pelican pond. The nest was just off the trail on the left. The hawk was very protective and would tell us off whenever we hiked around there.

The great horned owl shots were taken near our place in Westminster. There is a family of them that shows up each spring near a ropes course in the dry creek open space. There is a bridge over dry creek on Zuni/Federal (they turn into each other) between 120th and 128th. The ropes course is just to the East of the bridge. The owls show up regularly there each evening through Winter and early Spring. The darker owl shot I took up at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain NP a couple years ago. I've been up there may times since but haven't seen it again.

I saw the turkeys just South of the road heading into the North entrance to Rocky Mountain NP - just about 100 yards from the entrance gate. I think we saw these in early Spring last year. Quite a treat!

Looks like you get a great show up there at your birdfeeder! You've got some nice photos!

Hi there Debbie,
I really do not have a clue, unless someone here has it at pet. There are very few house out where I am house sitting at. When I talk to the people who live here, I will ask them if they know, or if they have ever seen it before.
It was sure a strange thing to go strutting across the road in front of me. I am just glad I had help figureing out what the heck it was, and that I just happened to have my camera in the car.
Good birding
