Yes, I am.....now on my own. Birding is something I was very active in years ago. I really am interested in getting back into it, though I now want to photograph at least some of the birds I see. Daunting task. Thanks for your comment.

I've heard this often and it really makes me feel good to think I've helped get people started on the trail. I'm enjoying exploring all the Colorado mountains now that I live in Evergreen. Before all I knew was Rocky and Indian Peaks. I still love them best, though. I'm still slowly adding 14ers. The different element down here is the mining piece. It's not wilderness, but wilderness is once again taking over. It's certainly interesting. And I'm in love with mountain goats, non-native, or not. I spend at least a day weekly in the summer on Mt. Evans with the goats and ptarmigan. Two weeks ago I snowshoed up Guanella Pass to photograph winter-white ptarmigan. This year you have to trek to get to them due to road closures on Guanella. What a great experience! 'Got some great pics as well. I'm missing the spring lek (grouse and prairie chicken) activity this spring due to upcoming foot surgery. I want to keep hiking and old injuries have made it tough. Hopefully this will help. But I hated missing the leks. Great hearing from folks still in Estes Park!

I saw one of those two as well, but was rushing at that point and didn't want to disturb the family eating dinner directly below the owl.

Hi Mike and Susan,

Thanks for sending the link to your pics from yesterday. They turned out great! It will be fun watching the owls fledge this Spring. Hopefully I'll catch you guys out there again. I'll let you know when I'm planning to head out there next week so you can meet me and take a few more pics with the big lens if you want to.

Take care and happy birding!
- Pat

Mike, I saw the results of your trip to SVSP. A friend of mine was telling me that it wouldn't be worth the gasoline for me, but I see that you saw some nice stuff, particularly the owls and GBH nests.

Can you point me to the right parts of the park?
