To anyone interested yesterday and today, 11-19 & 11-20, There were 80+ cranes south of Latham Res. between rds. 42 - 44, and rds. 45 - 47. They were too far away for good photos. Last year there were 8 that stayed into December at that location.
Pale bill is an eastern, dark is a western. It's rare to see a western north of the Palmer Divide in Colorado. Nice shot! Steve
Red-tailed Hawk - leading edge under wing pattern, wrist comma. (first Sibley Guide, pg. 123, eastern) Steve
Nice shot! I'm saying this is a juvenile eastern Red-tailed Hawk. The breast is too white for a Rough-legged, the belly is white not dark. Also the area around the eyes aren't dark enough. (Sibley)

This is a Marsh Wren, I saw two near Jackson Lake last weekend on Morgan County Road 2.
I've seen them in January at Latham Res. in 2003 & 2oo6.
