Burrowing Owl near La Veta?

Hi Gary,



This morning we spotted a Burrowing Owl on Hwy 160, at the Valley Road cutoff to La Veta. When we returned from Lathrop State Park 2 hours later he was still there...appeared to be all by himself...not much prairie dog activity...a newer "town"...although we have heard of these little guys being out by the airstrip near Walsenburg...that is almost 20 miles away...is it unusual for them to be this high...about 7,000 feet?

Where's my Mockingbird?

Gary has posted that there's a new yard life bird in his Nunn habitat and I sure wish it would come to visit me. I really like Northern Mockingbirds. I didn't see them growing up in Michigan, but when we moved to New Jersey I got the full exposure. My yard was always occupied by 2 or 3 breeding pairs.
