Colorado Birder

I don't hear Owls very often here in Limon, so it didn't take long for to be out the door this am about 6:oo, when I heard 2 of them chatting back and forth to each other. I don't have anything to look at them at night with, but I was closer to them, being outside, than I was inside. Sometimes that's good enough for me!!!!!

I watch a Great horned Owl roost all day in the tree's behind my house a couple of years ago. I will scout the tree's with my binoculars, when it gets a little lighter.

They usually appear just at dusk (some light) to begin hunting and calling for the evening. Full moons are great source of light to see/hear them. They should be calling for next weeks in preparation for breeding (they are early breeders). We have three in our area that have been calling for last 2-3 weeks to each other. Gary
