Colorado Birder

As you may have noticed i am a new member here and trying to get around and see some of what Denver has to offer. I am relatively (2 years) new to Denver and the US, as a resident at least. Passed by on several migrations and decided to build a nest a last.

Anyway i have visited, South Platte, Barr Lake and a couple of other smaller sites in the last few days and will be heading back for sure. Met with plenty of helpful rangers, volunteers and such too which is cool. I took a drive around the DIA Owl loop early evening yesterday just as some sand storms and sleet blew in, needless to say i saw very little besides tumbleweed and a kestrel. Of the oft mentioned colony's which is the most likely to yield a sighting at the moment?

If now and in future picture postings you notice a great many of the more common birds, its that to me they are new and pretty cool. I am used to starlings, common gulls, magpies and crows being from the UK so please indulge me.

thanks all

J

DIA Owl Loop gets hopping later in migration and when the owls fledge usually late June. If you are looking for places to visit start with http://www.coloradobirdingtrail.com/ and http://www.coloradocountybirding.com/. Gary
