Colorado Birder

As I grow in my birding, and learn how to watch them...I am more and more interested in photographing them in the natural world and not at my feeders. Still, I have neither the equipment nor the knowledge really, in where to find them...to do much else. Yet.

I discuss this and other issues in my blog. The folks who can catch an image in a bush or on a beach just astound me. Good birding!!!

No offense taken (I'm 48)--I was just pointing out recent demographics data. Thanks Gary

Well actually, my piece is more about the arm-chair electronics that capture today’s hobbyists; that real interest in the natural world is a shrinking thing about which we could do wonders by encouraging and nurturing these interests in others. Your network here is one of the things that might do just that.

While it’s a given we are becoming a sedentary and computer-driven society society which enjoys the immediate satisfaction of electronics, I didn’t mean to imply birding is for old people…I’m sorry if I offended you.

Just a brief comment on the "perceived" demographics of birding ... in 2001 national survey of birders they found:

Average aged birder is 49
54% are female
Greatest number of birders are aged 35-54
Highest participation rate is aged 55-64, lowest 18-24
