Great Horned Owl Nest - WCR 15 and Harmony Road

There is an interesting Great Horned Owl nest just north of the intersection of WCR 15 and Harmony Road. Interesting because it is so high in a lone, stately cottonwood and is directly above CR15. The adult is clearly visible all day and at least one juvenile recently. This morning there was a partly eaten Eurasian Collared Dove on CR15 right below the nest.

I hope the young one is careful when he begins branching.  Last year I found a young one that was run over below a nest that was above the street.  Big enough to wander outside the nest, but not a fledged owl.  It was sad to see.
