In my yard, I've noticed the adult males, which of course are not breeding now...don't flash their red much. In fact, one might not see any color on the black bird... I've wondered about this. Is it possible they hide the 'red' when they need to get along and eat communally?

There were actually quite a few in there. Gary

Gary, did you notice any adult males in the flock? I saw a large flock
(not zillions, probably just billions), and didn't see any adult males in it and thought it was unusuall.
Just wondering, Steve
